The Focus; High Quality & Big Impact
When we first started our business a year ago, we had dreams of being in every Whole Foods in America. We thought that’s what success had to look like in the healthy food product business. We had no idea what we were getting into (and sometimes still don’t!) but we knew that if we could land on the shelves of every major health food store we would have “made it”. This is the American Dream, right? Shark Tank… here we come.
Not so fast. While we still want to have a nationally recognized brand, we’ve quickly realized that the mass volume based approach doesn’t line up with what we’re actually trying to do. As we grow, we want to ensure that the quality of the product goes up. We want to get to actually know our customers and create a real, living community of awesome people like yourself who value wholesome, truly nutritious food and food products. We want to keep being able to do things like create product boxes that are made from 100% recycled, biodegradable material. We want to keep our prices affordable while giving you the best possible product and experience.
Once you start playing the mass produced grocery game, much of this would be nearly impossible. From distribution fees to leasing expensive shelf space and everything between, we would be working with a razor thin margin that would only be sustainable with ridiculous volume and/or a focus on cutting costs - and thus quality and potential impact.
This is something we’re not interested in. By going direct to consumer and partnering with local, private retailers who are doing amazing things, we can continue to pursue our REAL goals for Nash. We can continue to use the highest quality ingredients possible while maximizing the impact we have for our customers and the earth at large. Sure, growth may be a bit slower and the numbers may be a bit lower, but we’re more than okay with that. Getting as big as possible to then sell out seems like what most “business” oriented people would do. We happen to be “passion” based people ended up starting a business out of our combined passion.
As we move forward, we want you to know how much your support and appreciation for what we’re trying to do means to us. You inspire us to keep pushing, dreaming, and doing. We love hearing back from you and if there’s anything we can do to help we’d love to know. Thank you for being you and hopefully we’ll cross paths soon.
In Health & Love,
Chad and Hanna
